(Reconnecting with Our Community – A Talk on University Social Responsibility with Vice President Chen Yu-nu of NCKU)

Dear Colleagues,
Have you ever wondered how our university can go beyond the classroom to become a vibrant heartbeat for the community it serves?
In the past, Yuan Ze University successfully built a profound connection with the Badie Longgang Xiaoli region through our "Taoyuan Cultural Corridor" project—a remarkable endeavor where academic expertise and regional growth flourished together. While that specific phase has concluded, the mission to preserve our local culture and foster regional engagement remains a vital part of our identity. To spark new cross-disciplinary innovation and revitalize the dialogue between Yuan Ze and our local community, the Sustainability and Social Responsibility Center has invited Vice President Chen Yu-nu of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) to share her expertise.
The "Walking Through Tainan" (踏溯台南) course has become a flagship initiative at NCKU. Recognized by the Ministry of Education and the Global Views Monthly (CommonWealth) USR University Awards, the program demonstrates how academic research can be seamlessly integrated with the historical and urban pulse of Tainan. Vice President Chen will provide us with a comprehensive look at how to design courses that enable students—regardless of their academic major—to step out of the classroom, engage with local realities, and discover their own sense of social responsibility. This session will serve as a crucial opportunity for us to reflect on how we can rediscover Yuan Ze’s unique strengths and potentially reimagine our own "Cultural Corridor" in a new light.
We cordially invite all faculty and staff interested in social practice, regional revitalization, and sustainable development to join this session. Whether your background is in engineering, management, humanities, or social sciences, this lecture is designed to be an exchange platform where we can gather ideas on how to leverage our diverse professional expertise to create lasting impact in the Taoyuan area.
